G is for Goodreads

Goodreads is one of my favorite places on the Internet. My good friend, Julie, kept hounding me about how I HAD to get on there. Boy, I should have listened to her sooner.  Goodreads is a one stop shop for me. I can put my books up for review in various groups, answer questions by readers, and do giveaways. As a reader, I get to chat about books! We discuss plots, characters, settings, and covers. It doesn’t get any more fun. :)

If you’re an author, some of the great review groups on Goodreads are:

Read2Review – The Curse of Gremdon and Rise from Darkness are both on there this month

Knights of the Round Table – The Curse of Gremdon was reviewed there in March and Rise from Darkness will be reviewed there in the fall.

Do you know of others?

There are a ton of book clubs from MG to classic fiction. Too many to even name here, but you can do a search on Goodreads.

Are you on Goodreads? Do you know of another website that offers readers and writers this kind of platform? If so, I’d love to know about it.

I’m on there! *waves hand wildly in air* It is a great place to be, both for author and reader.

  2. Marta Szemik says:

I’ve been on goodreads for a few months and still exploring. Takes a while to learn about all the groups, threads, etc, but it’s a great platform.

  3. Lindi says:

I love Goodreads. I know I don’t utilize it as much as I can. I need to navigate more through it, but I love it as a reader as well. I really like reading reviews and posting reviews.

  4. I love Goodreads, but I haven’t ventured into the review part yet. In a lot of groups though.

  5. Yes I am and I’ve slowly worked to build more friends. I am part of a couple groups but no idea how to get those groups to review any of my books. Most of them state up front that if you’re an author you’re not allowed to mention your book.

  6. I’m a big fan of Goodreads.

  7. I love love love Goodreads…

I’m on Goodreads, but my use kinda has an ebb and flow to it. There’s only so much time I have to be on a computer since I have a demanding job and stuff. But I do like to see what my friends are reading.

  9. Lynn Rush says:

I LOVE Goodreads. It’s such a fun place to hang out!!!!! :) I’ve met tons of readers on there, too. Super fun!

  10. Kendall Grey says:

Goodreads rocks. I’m also on http://www.librarything.com and http://www.shelfari.com/ but I don’t login to those nearly as much as Goodreads.

  11. Bookblogger says:

I also enjoy Goodreads. There are a lot of great people there and it’s a fun place to interact with the authors whose work I enjoy reading.

Jeffrey Poole and myself moderate a book that focuses on reading and reviewing Indie books. There are a tons of authors there and a lot of info and support for people with questions.

  12. I’m on Goodreads too! I love seeing what my friends are reading and finding new authors there.

  13. Nick Wilford says:

Popular topic for today! I read a post on Goodreads just before this one. I am a member, but not really explored what it has to offer yet. Sounds very useful for authors, though.

  14. Ruby Young says:

Hi, this is the second blog today that has mentioned “Goodreads”, so I guess I will eventually have to check it out. :) Now I have to run and check out more blogs. Thank you very much. Best regards to you. Ruby

Been trying to comment on your blog for quite sometime now…
I wanted to say thanks for giving me a chance to review The Curse Of Gremdon and also liking it.
I love t Goodreads for the simple reason, it provides with an online of read books and new ones, meetings likeminded people and some of the groups. Books Depository.co.uk is another place where people post reviews, another place I check out is Book Rooster.com where the reviews have to be posted in the Amazon site. There is also Net Galley which is quite cumbersome in that, a reviewer has to ask the publishers registered there to send a book for review.

I am a member on goodreads and I love it!!!! I not only get to find some of the best books to read, but I have also become friends with many of my favorite authors. I also have a friend that is just getting published and was trying to get her to join, and I don’t think she has yet. Her name is Rue Elliott and she is one of the authors of The Virginia Beach Murder Mysteries. So if you get a chance check her out http://www.rueelliott.com or the http://www.thevirginiabeachmurdermysteries.com
    Happy reading and writing*
    Teresa

I’m on Goodreads but confess I haven’t spent the time to learn all the facets.

  18. Sonia Lal says:

I love goodreads! I am on it, too. I didn’t think of g is for goodreads, I should have. LOL

  19. I used to work as a librarian, and I could see goodreads as being a great resource for collection development!

  20. I love going to stores and scanning books to add them to my TBR pile!

  21. Susan Oloier says:

I’m definitely not on Goodreads enough. But it’s been a wonderful place to “store” my TBR list when I lose track of what I want to read. I am just beginning to explore its possibilities for authors.

  22. I jumped in the wagon rather late too, but I am loving Goodreads right now. Just trying to see how I can utilise it even more. :)

  23. slamdunk says:

Though I am newer Goodreads user, I enjoy the content and exchanges there as well.

Your post reminds me that I have several reviews to post; I am def behind.

  24. Arlee Bird says:

I’m signed up for Goodreads but I’m very rarely there. I have so much stuff now that it’s difficult to keep up with all of these groups and sites.
I’m sure eventually I’ll explore it in greater depth.
