Carol Kilgore’s Cover Reveal, IWSG Recap, and Bazinga

I’m pleased to share Carol Kilgore’s cover for her fabulous upcoming release, Solomon’s Compass. I love to hang at the Tiki Hut, so if you’ve never been stop by and tell her I said hi.

The death of her beloved uncle, Randy Rankin, brings US Coast Guard Commander Taylor Campbell back to Texas to take care of his estate and find out if he really did bury his treasure. Jake Solomon’s job is to make sure Rankin’s killer doesn’t set his sights on CDR Campbell. Set along the Texas Gulf Coast, SOLOMON’S COMPASS is a story of love, loyalty, and the value of keeping a promise.

IWSG RECAP

I decided I’d try to visit each person on the IWSG list this month. I’ve made it through a little over two hundred. It’s been such a pleasure meeting new bloggers, and seeing all the New Year resolutions.

On some of the blogs, I ran into a blogger who wants 100 pens. That’s right, she’s collecting them.
Check her out here.

I also ran into a Flashback Blog Hop running this week at The Peasants Revolt.
Hopefully I’ll finish visiting everyone over the next few days.

BAZINGA!

Go team Sheldon!
Anyone who’s followed my blog for awhile, or is a friend on FB, knows I’m a huge fan of The Big Bang Theory.

I have someone close to me who is much like Sheldon Cooper, so I truely appreciate his character. Oh, and last week’s
show was hysterical!

Well, Sheldon Cooper is so awesome a biologist named a bee after him, Euglossa Bazinga .

“Brazilian biologist Andre Nemesio said he named a species of Brazilian orchid bee Euglossa bazinga in honor of “the clever, funny, ‘nerd’ character Sheldon Cooper,” because the bee had tricked scientists for some time with its similarity to other species.”

Do you feel more inspired since IWSG this month? Learn any new great techniques? Do you watch The Big Bang Theory?
Have a great week!!

  1. The Bazinga bug!
    Carol’s cover rocks.
And thanks for visiting so many IWSG members. It is inspiring, isn’t it? Now you know why I do my best to visit as many as possible.

  2. Laura Eno says:

I’ve never seen the show but I like the name Bazinga!

Carol’s cover is awesome and I’m sure the story will be too.

IWSG was full of uplifting, committed posts – people moving forward for the new year. :)

  3. Carol, what a gorgeous cover! Love the coloring.

  4. Rose says:

Carol’s book sounds really good; I’m going to have to mark it as a to-read. I was looking at your own book covers and they are amazing! Also to-read’s for me :)

  5. So happy for Carol! :D

Good for you! I visited a majority of the IWSG blogs one month – whew! – what a feat!

Love the bee trivia. LOL Great addition to the post. ;)
(I have a Sheldon in my life, too.)

  6. Beautiful cover.

Most of the IWSG posts were so positive this time. I think we all needed that rather than a bunch of whining. Much better to start the year on a positive note.

  7. L.G.Smith says:

Wow, that’s a lot of blogs to visit. I remember the A to Z challenge two years ago there were a couple of people who spent the rest of the year visiting every single site that had signed up.

And Carol’s cover really is beautiful.

  8. Southpaw says:

I still write a IWSG post even though I keep getting booted off the list. I like the idea so I kept it up and just visit the list.

  9. I love that show. So interesting about the bee. I’m going to have to click over to the 100 pens blog to see what that’s about.

  10. Ciara Knight says:

    Alex – My pleasure

Laura – You have to watch it once!

Rose – You are so sweet. Thanks!!!

Melissa – Then you totally get it. ;)

    L. Diane – I agree

Southpaw – How do you keep getting booted off? That stinks.

Kirsten – Yay, a fellow TBBT fan. :)

  11. A big congrats to Carol!!
I’m impressed by your blog visiting!

  12. I’m a huge BBT fan, too. I wonder how they’ll work the Bazinga! bee into the show :)

Thank you for participating in my cover reveal.

  13. L'Aussie says:

Beautiful cover, great sounding story. This is my third in a row seeing the cover, so it’s great that Carol has great blogger friends.
Good on you reading all the IWSG posts. Wow. I love that Wed. but would never find the time to read all. I received such a lot of helpful hints on fantasy writing of which I’m most appreciative!
Big Bang Theory is addictive, yet annoying. I read yesterday that it is Friends with a brain and that is probably a good description.
    Happy New Year Ciara!
    Denise

  14. Congrats to Carol! I’m seeing her everywhere today. That’s really neat about the bee. That bee has the coolest name in the insect world now!

  15. I love both Carol and her new book’s cover. And like you, Ciara, I’m hooked on the Big Bang Theory. What a hoot that Sheldon Cooper has inspired the name for a species of bee.

  16. I love that you are out to meet new people. The IWSG is such a great way to start. Very cool! Thanks for sharing what you found too!

  17. Carrie-Anne says:

Congratulations to Carol on her release!

There was a guy in my YA Lit class last semester who so reminded me of a BBT character. Like, the professor would ask if anyone enjoyed non-fiction, and he would say that depended on what her definition of non-fiction were, or she’d put an illustration from Alice in Wonderland on the projector, and he’d try to identify the exact scene instead of just saying what book it was from.

  18. Ciara Knight says:

    Carol – My pleasure!!

    L’Assie – I hadn’t heard that, but I can see it.

    Christine – I agree.

    Helena – Yay, a fellow fan. :)

Carrie-Anne – I’d be ROFL. It must have been entertaining, or annoying. ;)

  19. I love Big Bang Theory too… always makes me laugh:) Great cover Carol, and congratulations.

  20. It really is a beautiful cover. I wish Carol all the best.

  21. Brinda says:

My BFF also loves the Big Bang Theory. I’ve watched it a few times. VERY funny!

  22. Misha says:

I also want to visit all the IWSG entrants this month, but I also am trying to visit my blog visitors too. Hard work.

And I love that someone named a clever bee after Sheldon. :-D

  23. tara tyler says:

yay for carol! love the cover & story, love a buried treasure hunt!

and good for you visiting all the support group! quite a task!

    happy 2013!

  24. DL Hammons says:

    Carol’s book cover looks amazing!

And I’m a HUGE Big Bang Theory fan as well! :)

  25. I’d like to visit more blogs that post for IWSG.

Congrats to Carol. I look forward to reading her new book.

  26. WOW, girl! You go! 2hundred blogs in a couple of days? I always try to visit as many blogs as I can when the first Wednesday of the month comes by, but I rarely go more than 50/month. There are so many great bloggers, like you! Thanks for your effort and your nice words on my blog. Have a great 2013!
